“Gentleman of the Bar” is a pseudonym employed to evoke an objective, professional sensibility, without bias, and independent of all economic inducements or incentives. A gentleman at this time, was to be a person of independent means who could not be bought or corrupted. Being also of the law, this writer sought to convey that he was of impartial or objective legal opinion.
