John Wesley
–
John Wesley was an English theologian who was the primary leader of the revival movement known as Methodism, which became the modern Methodist movement. A tireless evangelist, preacher and writer, ordainer of ministers, and founder of chapels, Wesley was also a staunch abolitionist and a supporter of women’s right to preach and teach. Initially sympathetic to American complaints, Wesley changed his mind under the influence of Samuel Johnson.
