Glascott was a Welsh cleric who began his service in the Church of England as a friend of John Wesley and became increasingly Calvinist over time. His strong views on faith prompted his preaching in favor of ceasing hostilities in America. His views were supported by his most avid sponsor, Lady Selina, the Countess of Huntingdon. He eventually assumed the ministry of the parish of Hatherleigh in Devon.
