Many pamphlets written on the eve of the Revolutionary War were published with a pseudonym. This was sometimes done to protect writers' reputations and even their personal safety when the ideas expressed were radical or politically and legally dangerous. The pseudonym chosen here suggests the writer has an authoritative and theological approach to his subject.
