Jasper Mauduit was a textile merchant and a religious dissenter. He was considered better suited to represent Massachusetts than his predecessor William Bollan. Mauduit successfully obtained reimbursement from Parliament for the colony’s contributions to the French and Indian War. He had to resign his position in 1765 due to poor health.
