The son of a vicar, Lind began his professional life as a Deacon, but left the church to relocate to Warsaw to become a tutor to a Polish prince. He later returned to England and turned to law and writing to support his family, taking up his pen for the government in opposition to the colonies. He is best known for his “refutation” of The Declaration of Independence and his friendship with Jeremy Bentham, founder of utilitarianism.
