An Answer to the Declaration of the American Congress

Published anonymously, this pamphlet has sometimes been attributed to John Lind, the loyalist lawyer and pamphleteer. Lind’s loyalist preferences were certainly in keeping with this pamphlet’s argument that any response to the Declaration of Independence was beneath the dignity of the sovereign, and should be left to individuals like the pamphlet’s author who systematically argues in support of the King against each of the famous “long train of abuses” in the Declaration.
