Born in Geneva Switzerland to a French Huguenot family, Fletcher’s first inclination was not religion but a career in the military. It was the promise of a commission if he would first learn English that brought him to London. While briefly serving as a tutor to a wealthy family, he came into the company of the renowned John Wesley, an event that forever changed his life’s course.
