Tetlow (?-1794?) was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and gained local prominence by translating and interpreting a rare Roman altar unearthed in Doncaster in 1781. He also authored political works, including a 1776 pamphlet on the American Revolution, drawing from both law and history. Little else is known of his life.
