Brian Young is Professor of Intellectual History at Oxford, where he is Charles Stuart Tutor at Christ Church. He is the author of Religion and Enlightenment in Eighteenth-Century England (Oxford, 1998) and The Victorian Eighteenth Century (Oxford, 2007.)

He is the co-editor of a number of volumes including, with Karen O'Brien, The Cambridge Companion to Edward Gibbon (2018.) He is currently completing two monographs concerning eighteenth-century literary and intellectual history.
