Daniel Webster on the Draft: Text of a Speech delivered in Congress, December 9, 1814

A reprint of Webster’s famous speech against conscription during the War of 1812 against Britain. It was reprinted by the American Union against Militarism in 1917 when America was on the verge of entering World War I and conscription was again an issue in the United States.
