Sir Frederick Pollock (1845–1937) was educated at Eton before going to Trinity College, Cambridge. He was admitted to the bar in 1871 and to the Privy Council in 1911. He taught at the University of Oxford from 1883 to 1903, where he was a Fellow of Corpus Christi College.
Bio
Pollock wrote The Law of Torts and The Principles of Contract and served as editor of the Law Quarterly Review and editor-in-chief of the Law Reports, the volumes in which decisions of the English courts were published. Later he was made a judge of the admiralty court of the Cinque Ports. He is noted for being one of the leading English legal historians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
