Bio

Sheridan achieved fame in London by writing satirical masterpieces like The School for Scandal and managing the iconic Drury Lane Theatre. Entering Parliament in 1780. His oratory championed freedom of the press, Catholic emancipation, and Irish rights. An avowed advocate for liberty well before his election to Parliament, he opposed British military action against the American colonies.
