Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre (1758 - 1794) was a French lawyer and statesman. He was one of the primary leaders of the French Revolution. He was a member of the Jacobin Club and fought for the right to vote for every man and the abolition of the death penalty. Ironically, he met his death at the guillotine.
