The Constitutional Advocate: By Which, from the Evidence of History and of Records, and from the Principles of the British Government, Every Reader May Form His Own Judgment Concerning the Justice and Policy of the Present War with America
- Anonymous Pamphleteer 1776 (author)
- Jack P. Greene (collection editor)
Sometimes attributed to Richard Goodenough, this pamphlet blames intellectual laziness for the lack of sympathy that a portion of the British showed to the Americans. He argues that a rigorous examination of the facts of the case will show that the American are right in their rebellion against the British, and that the rebellion is, in fact, not a rebellion, but an upholding of the true understanding of British law, custom, and liberty.
