This 1774 pamphlet examines Parliament’s taxation of colonial America through the House of Commons despite the colonies lacking representation there. Compiled by Arthur Lee using material furnished by Benjamin Franklin, it was first printed anonymously in London before being reprinted in Philadelphia by Joseph Crukshank. Though long attributed to Franklin himself, bibliographic scholarship has since established that Lee was its actual author, drawing on Franklin’s source material.
