Bio
Stevens used his business success to fund extensive religious charities. A self-taught scholar fluent in Hebrew, he engaged in theological and political debates. During the American controversy, he defended Parliament’s authority over the colonies. He later founded the “Nobody’s Friends” club, a circle supporting the Church of England, and wrote key biographies.
