William Mildmay was a Commissioner to France who wrote several books on politics, travel, and trade.

Bio

Born in India, where his father worked for the East India Company, Mildmay was orphaned at an early age. He trained as a lawyer and took a place in the British government, for whom he travelled to France as part of the Anglo-French Commission in Paris from 1750-1755.
