An influential 18th-century English dissenting minister and writer in London.

Bio

After learning Hebrew and Greek on his own, Towers was ordained in 1769. His immense popularity led to the 1784 construction of the Barbican Meeting-House for his large congregation. He was also a noted political and religious author, writing texts against polygamy and Catholicism before his death.
