John Fothergill, son of the famous Quaker preacher of the same name, was a prominent physician and philanthropist of late eighteenth century London. He was known for his pioneering work on streptococcal sore throat and the earliest discussion of mouth to mouth resuscitation. He was also highly acclaimed for his botanical knowledge.
