Prominent Presbyterian Theologian

Bio

Erskine was a prominent theologian and preacher in the Scottish Presbyterian Church, serving as minister first in Kirkintilloch north of Glasgow and later in Culross in Fife. He counseled for understanding from both sides in the dispute between Britain and her colonies, but took a decidedly firm stance in favor of American claims to the right of representation in all matters of taxation.
