About the Author

Maxwell was prebendary of Connor and chaplain to Lord Carteret, then lord lieutenant of Ireland. He is best known as the translator and editor of Richard Cumberlan’s Treatise of the Laws of Nature (1727), to which he added several essays and appendices of his own.
