Thomas Hollis1720 - 1774![]() About the AuthorThomas Hollis (1720-1774) came from a radical family and was an important member of the so-called eighteenth century commonwealth men. He edited the works of earlier radical thinkers like John Locke, John Toland, and Algernon Sidney. His edition of Locke’s Two Treatises of Government (1764) was widely circulated in the American colonies and helped spread Lockean ideas of property rights and limited government. In The Library:
