New to the Library: August 2007

August 2007: Frederick Douglass (1817-1895), The Life and Times of Frederick Douglass: From 1817-1882, written by himself (London, 1882). Douglass was an ex-slave who wrote three accounts of his life as a slave, a runaway, and a campaigner for the abolition of slavery. This English edition is interesting for the introduction by the great English campaigner for free trade and liberal reform, John Bright.
