Thomas Hollis and John Locke
lockeThomas Hollis was a radical bookseller who brought radical books across the Atlantic to sell in the American colonies. He also published editions under his own label. As part of his propaganda effort for liberty he also produced engravings of famous authors, such as John Locke. This engraving of John Locke comes from Hollis's own 1764 edition of the Two Treatises of Government which circulated widely in the colonies on the eve of the Revolution.
