We are sad to note the recent passing
in January of Sir
Alan Walters (1926-2009). Sir Alan was an academic economist
who believed that strict monetary targets should be set by the
state in order to curb inflation. He rose to prominence when he
left Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore to join Prime Minister
Margaret Thatcher as her economic adviser in 1981. He was interviewed
by John Blundell of the Institute for Economic Affairs in one of
Liberty Fund's Intellectual
