INGERSOLL

INGERSOLL, Jared, was born in Connecticut, June 14, 1749, and died in Philadelphia, Oct. 21, 1822. He was graduated at Yale in 1766, was a delegate to the continental congress from Pennsylvania, 1780-81, and to the convention of 1787 (see CONSTITUTION), took the federalist side in politics, and was supported by the federal party for the vice-presidency in 1812.
