p. 78, bottom, add to note 3: ‘In Dialogue III, Rousseau picks out this passage as one of the chief causes of his persecution (Œuvres ix. p. 280). Another passage there cited for the same purpose is the comparison between the lots of the rich and the poor (Éc. pol., Vol. I. pp. 267–8).’
