ricardo to wright1Gatcomb Park Minchinhampton 22 Aug. 1823 SirThe speech on Mr. Western’s motion2 of which you wish to have a correct copy for the Parliamentary Debates contained a great many remarks on Mr. Western’s pamphlet,3 which besides being in my opinion very attackable on its own merits, was at variance with the frequently declared opinions of that gentleman. As I have not that pamphlet here I cannot refer to it, nor is it perhaps desirable that all those remarks should be published. I will look over the newspaper reports, and will, within the time you mention, send them back either with the printed report corrected, or with the speech written out as far as I can recollect it.
