Cantata CXCV.
Dem Gerechten muss das Licht . For a Wedding (? c. 1726 )
The melody of the concluding Choral is Nicolaus Herman’s “Lobt Gott, ihr Christen alle gleich” (see Cantata 151).
The words of the Choral are the first stanza of Paul Gerhardt’s Hymn of Thanksgiving, “Nun danket all’ und bringet Ehr’,” first published, to Herman’s tune (supra), in the 1647 (Berlin) edition of Crüger’s Praxis Pietatis Melica: - Nun danket all’ und bringet Ehr’,
- Ihr Menschen in der Welt,
- Dem, dessen Lob der Engel Heer
- Im Himmel stets vermeldt .
