The words of the opening movement are the first stanza of Keimann’s Hymn: - Meinen Jesum lass’ ich nicht,
- Weil er sich für mich gegeben,
- So erfordert meine Pflicht,
- Klettenweis’ an ihm zu kleben.
- Er ist meines Lebens Licht:
- Meinen Jesum lass’ ich nicht.
