From MRS. L. M. BINGHAM

  • Address: Adam Smith Esqr., Panmuirs Close, Cannongate, Edinburgh.

MS., GUL Gen. 1035/172; unpubl. (Scott 307, n. 1, reference).

[Mrs. L. M. Bingham writes in French to Smith asking him to further a reconciliation with her father, Admiral Sir Charles Douglas, after her marriage to the Revd. Richard Bingham on 10 Nov. 1788. In justification of her démarche, she refers to the miserable life she lived with Lady Douglas when Sir Charles was away.]
