CONGRESSCONGRESS, Sessions of, (IN U. S. HISTORY). The first two sessions of the 1st congress were held at New York; until the end of the first session of the 6th congress, all the sessions were held at Philadelphia; since that time congress has met at Washington. (See CAPITAL, NATIONAL) Below will be found the dates of the meeting and adjournment of each session of each congress, together with the names of the successive speakers of the house.
